K9 SWIM FITNESS

Taranaki's only canine hydrotherapy pool

Make an appointment to come up and try our purpose built dog swimming pool. Heated to between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius, Help your dog recover from an injury, loose weight, gain muscle or just have fun.
This is the only dog pool available in Taranaki. But in other parts of New Zealand they have been running for years and are common place in Australia, America and the UK.. The benefits to our K9 companions has been documented. Even Base Hospital has a swimming pool to rehabilitate patients after surgery or accident and many people with arthritis will know the benefis of relaxing in a warm spa pool, so why cant your best mate have those benefits as well?

Set Up:

,Your dog will enter the pool via a ramp, or be lifted into the pool. They will be fitted with a well fitted Harness for safety and encouraged to swim with the use of toys, yummy treats and you. I will guide your dog to swim in the water from in the pool with your dog..
Owners need to be prepared to get wet and join in the activity with lots of praise and encouragement. ,No, you will not be in the pool. but there can be lots of splashing.
First swim will only be 5 minutes max. as the warm water, new environment and hard work can tire the dogs very quickly. As they come back for more sessions your dog could be swimming for up to 20 minutes.
Your dog will have a Theraputic warm shower before and after the swim to wash off any chlorine and, warm and relax tense muscles. Bring  a towel so we can towel dry your dog at the end. I also have a Blow drier if your dog will tolerate it.
